Sound Meditations

My examination of meditation and sound began in 2019, through a hybrid introduction to neuroscience and mindfulness practice course. It was here that I became curious about the ways that sound and music affect the body, the brain, and our emotional, mental and sensory experience of the world. During my research, I had the opportunity to delve deeply into the work of Pauline Oliveros, whose Sonic Meditations were a gateway to deeper exploration of having a sound element in mindfulness meditation. As a culmination of that work, and heavily influenced by Oliveros, I present a 3 movement Sound Meditation of my own.
